Each of our local workshops is directed by a graduate of the acclaimed Writers' Workshop at UC Irvine and run in the spirit of the program which over the years has fostered such diverse talents as Richard Ford, Michael Chabon, David Benioff, Aimee Bender, Alice Sebold and Glen David Gold--as well as many others (like ourselves) not yet so well known.
Our workshops are designed for serious writers of prose and/or poetry (not necessarily writers of serious prose or poetry)--rather than of plays or screenplays.
In order to help create an intimate and productive community, no more than ten writers will be invited to participate in each workshop.
This summer's session in Seattle, with Sarah Heston, is designed to critique poetry and prose in the same way--is it good, and why, and what needs work, and why? An in-depth analysis will be given to all works that fit under the guises poetry, prose, or somewhere in-between--or outside specification, as the margins of what literature are have begun to change. This workshop demands only that the author specify his or her work as important, and that the readers discuss it as serious work.
